Team INDIEN

Acrobats from the sub-continent

India is considered to be a very strong nation in junior hockey. Even when there was sometimes some doubt whether the juniors from this traditional hockey nation were already over the age limit for important competitions (which was constantly being claimed by critical Indian hockey journalists), India has still always fielded a very competitive and strong team. This encouragement of their talent was awarded with the World Championship title in Australia in 2001. In Rotterdam in 2005, the team in the hands of the former Olympic icon Harendra Singh again fought their way to the semi-final where, despite leading 2:0 at half time, bad luck caused them to lose 2:3 to Australia, the later World Championship runners-up. The spectators in Gladbach can look forward to a great show from the sticks of the young acrobats from the sub-continent.
